Valtteri Laurell, Ricky-Tick Big Band - Rico Suave Bossa Nova

Nr: BBE629SDG22026

Description

Following the release of Valtteri Laurell’s excellent reworking of J Dilla’s Won’t Do, comes Rico Suave Bossa Nova; the 2nd single taken from Valtteri Laurell and the Ricky-Tick Big Band’s sublime album Visions of Dilla. As with the first single from the album, Rico Suave Bossa Nova features flautist Elena Pinderhughes in a track that is once again co produced by Dilla aficionado Teppo ”Teddy Rok” Mäkynen and Valtteri Laurell for a joyous groove that hints at those summer days and evenings to come.

Visions of Dilla is the big band album you thought you’d never hear; J Dilla beats and melodies sympathetically arranged and reworked for the 17 piece Ricky-Tick Big Band to expertly and artistically glide and guide the listener to dance floors in a Bob James, Duke Ellington and Gil Evans style.

Since J Dilla’s untimely death his work has been rightly recognised for how influential it is and his off kilter drum patterns and the raw emotions in his beats have been superbly reinterpreted in the tracks that Valtteri has created for Visions of Dilla. This is especially the case with Rico Suave Bossa Nova. J Dilla famously said, ‘When you listen to my music, I want you to feel what I’m feeling. I want it to touch your soul’ . Well, he certainly touched Valtteri Laurell’s soul and in Rico Suave Bossa Nova it will touch your soul too.

Taken from the BBE Music released vinyl LP Visions of Dilla, Rico Suave Bossa Nova is available as a high quality digital download.
