Barely Breaking Even (Ron Trent & Matthias Heilbronn Remixes)

Following up BBE Music’s special version of Universal Robot Band’s ‘Barely Breaking Even‘ by Louie Vega, Leroy Burgess and Patrick Adams, the label announces new remixes by Ron Trent and Matthias Heilbronn.

Created to commemorate BBE’s 500th label release, ‘Barely Breaking Even’ is the song that inspired the company’s name, and their 2019 remake went all out, featuring live strings by The Apple Hill String Quartet, arranged by Patrick Adams and Leroy Burgess, with Grammy winning producer Louie Vega overseeing proceedings.

House Music legend Ron Trent turns in a typically deep, rich and rhythmic twist on ‘Barely Breaking Even’, introducing a slick new chord progression while showcasing the original’s stunning strings and Leroy’s powerhouse vocal. Steadfast and prolific German-born, NYC-residing producer Matthias Heilbronn turns in a bumper stash of remixes for all occasions. The main mix stays true to Leroy’s vision, the ‘BKNY’ version toughens up the drums for peak-time, while the ‘Soulflower’ revision brings forth a smoother, more vintage House groove.

Instrumental versions of all mixes are included, and a ‘Beats’ version of Heilbronn’s Soulflower mix will surely prove a useful tool for creative DJs.
