Mr Thing Performs BBE ‘Label Fair’ Mix for Worldwide FM
Worldwide FM Label Fair is a mix / mixtape series to introduce passionate record labels, who champion new releases and re-issues.
To open up the series, we have BBE Music, Barely Breaking Even, A British Record Label started by two DJs, Peter Adarkwah and Ben Jolly in 1996. They have been releasing numbers of disco, soul, funk, hip hop, jazz and house sounds on vinyl for 22 years and counting. The main key to the success of BBE is quality. Their disco albums have been curated by some of the most respected collectors and DJs around (Dimitri From Paris, Joey Negro and Sean P), their funk albums have been compiled by Keb Darge, Pete Rock and Kenny Dope, their jazz collated by Bob Jones, hip hop tended to by DJ Premier and their house aided by Terry Farley and Masters at Work. If they needed something doing, they consulted the best.
Known worldwide as a DJ & turntablist Mr Thing is a name synonymous with Hip-Hop that always brings a smile to the faces of fans and promoters alike as they remember genius performances of impeccable skill. First touching the tables in 1987 he has been non-stop perfecting his art since and is now one of the worlds best. Touring the world with an understanding of records and music that is second to none, he always creates flawless and exciting sets mixing some of the rarest records with some of the best loved records ever heard with an apparently effortless ease honed after years of practice.
A BBE regular over the years, repping at countless events, responsible for Strange Breaks & Mr Thing series, co compiler of The Kings of Hip-Hop alongside DJ Premier, as well as countless in house mixes & a regular on a fortnightly radio broadcast … we’re most proud that he has taken time out of his schedule to put together this retrospective label mix for Worldwide FM
If Mr Thing is playing at a party… make sure you GO! You will never be disappointed! Rocking parties is not the limit of his skills, not even close!
