Introducing their long awaited album released on BBE Music in September 2017, DJ Vadim and Katrina Blackstone unveil the LP’s title track ‘Double Sided’.
Afro-tinged synth boogie might be a good way to characterise ‘Double Sided’; an unreservedly fun and infectious Vadim composition, contrasted by Katrina Blackstone’s lyrics which tell a tumultuous tale of being torn between two lovers.
Russian born, London bred and now residing in Barcelona, DJ Vadim has built a formidable reputation as one of the world’s hardest working DJs and producers. During his long and fruitful career he’s worked with artists as varied as Stevie Wonder, The Roots, Prince, Kraftwerk and Paul Weller. Constantly touring and creating, Vadim has been working with BBE since 2007’s ‘Soundcatcher’. Ten years later, ’Double Sided’ will be his 7th album on the label.
Katrina Blackstone’s appearances alongside cult electronic producer Bluetech, revolutionary dub artist Dr Israel and post futurist duo Mexican Dubwiser led the Bay Area singer/songwriter to critical acclaim and a dizzying international tour schedule. First working with DJ Vadim on his 2014 ‘Dubcatcher’ album, 2017’s ‘Double Sided’ provides a custom-built platform for Katrina’s original lyrics and unique, reggae-infused vocals.
