Underwater Dreaming - The Remixes

Following the release of debut single ‘Underwater Dreaming’ in 2020, Sons Of The Sun and BBE Music proudly present a stunning pair of remixes by UK Afro-House pioneer Zepherin Saint and Houston duo Beanz N Kornbread.

Founder of Tribe Records and House producer extraordinaire Zepherin Saint turns in a typically smooth and soulful rework of ‘Underwater Dreaming’, completely reinventing the track with a fresh chord structure and inventive use of the original’s layered backing vocals. The silky instrumental version of the remix is also included, especially for the deeper heads.

Donald Johnson & Kenneth Roy aka Beanz N Kornbread met as keyboard players in a local Texas church and have been working together ever since, writing and producing for Z-Ro, Paul Wall, Mac Miller, George Clinton, Slim Thug, Le$ and Snoop Dogg to name but a few. Johnson also plays drums in high-flying funk outfit Khruangbin. The pair’s chilled, yet bouncy, ‘Nawfside’ remix pays tribute to the pair’s shared North Houston upbringing in the 80’s with a sonic aesthetic they describe as “reminiscent of the low fidelity vinyl/cassette/VHS tape sound of its time”.

Sons of the Sun is a collaboration between American singer-songwriter JTronius and British producer Maverick Quest, featuring an inspired selection of luminary guests and musicians. Delivered remotely, the ingenious pair sent files back and forth between Texas and South East London to create their shared vision for the project. Remarkably, the duo has yet to meet in person. Their eponymous debut album is slated for release in December 2021 on BBE Music.
